Day 2 and 3

UPDATED!!! with pics 1/1

Kind of fell behind posting. Apparently Amanda doesn't want to assist in this endeavor.

Our first night in Singapore resulted in really, really bad jetlag. Fortunately, our cousin doesn't sleep much either. We woke up in the middle of the night (3am) and then decided to go out for midnight snacking around 4am. ROTI PRATA HEAVEN. My new favorite roti is egg + roti + curry. zomg so good. I ate 3.

In the morning, we woke to have ba gu de. I can't spell it. I also don't have pictures to post right now, but I will later. It's this super yummy, peppery soup with pork ribs and rice. So good. We also had a plate of LaLa (saucy clam dish), roast pork and duck, and rice. lots of rice. as always.

The rest of the day consisted of... mostly shopping. so much shopping. Amanda would not stop. Later in the day, we met the youngest member of our family, Joshua!!! BABIES. One of the 26 cousins, me and Amanda are the youngest. Our cousin Yvonne is also... towards the younger half of the cousin count. She recently had a baby, and he's super duper cute. hee..

For dinner we went to a hawker (outdoor food court) that was known for SATAY. Just rows and rows of satay peoples. We also ate barbeque stingray. They're pretty to look at as well as consuming. :) it's like a cross between fish and shark fin. yum-sauce.

After that, we visited the Merlion. The view on the pier was awesomee. Gosh I really need to post pictures with all these. I'll have to do that tonight.

Today (the 29th) also consisted of eating a ton and a little bit of shopping. I'm pretty sure that's all Singaporeans do. Work, eat, shop. haha... We are currently at an internet cafe that is also a fish spa. There are currently about 100 little sucker fishies nibbling the dead skin off our feet. It feels strange. I hope they're actually eating junk off our feet and not just kissing us.

an Introduction and Day 1: Jan27th

Hello!

Want to track the Eng sisters as we journey through the motherland (and Korea)? You've come to the right place. It's been 5 years since we've come back to Singapore, and we're really looking forward to all the AMmmAAAAzzinggg food and family visits this winter break :) Each post will probably include a story, pictures, and if you're lucky... a VIDEO. Enjoy!

Getting here

On the plane from Houston to San Fran, I (niki) quickly fell asleep (due to 100mg of Dramamine). The flight was short, only 4-5 hours or so. Unfortunately, the row in front of us consisted of 2 parents and 2 young, young children. They were crying and making noise, but I wasn't too worried. Dramamine works awesomee.

After a few hours of ignorantly blissful rest, I woke up to a foul stench. As moved my feet down from the seat to the floor, my toe rested on the abercromie bag I borrowed from amanda. It was damp. "Oh crap," I immediately thought. I figured my water bottle had leaked and was getting the bag and its contents wet. PATSY!!! So I grabbed the bag, checked the inside to make sure my dSLR wasn't damaged... only to find the inside dry. The outside was wet. As I patted it to make sure it really was wet, The foul stench was worse. I turned the light on, much to my regret, to find vomit all over amanda's bag.

Are you kidding me.

So the baby in front of us was apparently sick and threw up in the seat directly in front of me. Guess it leaked through the cracks and landed on the bag. sigh. what were the odds. We kept it in a plastic bag for the remaining 27 hours of our journey to Singapore. gross-sauce.

First meal: Laksa <3

Sentosa Island: It has changed a lot. This is outside a huge candy store. And yes, we're matching.

Currently suffering pretty bad jetlag. But it's all good. So much good food everywhere. I'm pretty sure if my mom had decided to move back to Singapore when we were kids, I'd be obese.
